Tuskeegee Institute during the fall of 1980 and then transferred to
Bethune Cookman College, where he was awarded a full football scholarship.
He received many honors at Bethune Cookman College, including Honor
Roll, National Dean's List and All Athletic Academic Team. He was awarded
the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Philosophy in 1985, four
months after the death of his father.
After receiving
his undergraduate degree, he entered seminary at the Interdenominational
Theological Center ( Morehouse School of Religion) in Atlanta, GA. He
was also on the National Dean's List while attending ITC. In 1986, he
was ordained at the Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church in Atlanta by R. L. White.

in 1988.

had a thirst to continue his educational journey. He enrolled at Erskine
Theological Seminary Center in Due West, SC to pursue a Doctor of Ministry
Degree. While attending Erskine, he wrote his dissertation "book"
entitled: Bridging The Gap Between Inmates and Church Volunteers to
receive his Doctorate.
In May 1996, Dr.
Thomas was lead by the Holy Spirit to shepherd the flock of Greater
Mount Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. It is evidence that he is guided
by the Holy Spirit, because, the flock is willing to follow him and
to work towards his vision for GMC. He believes in educating with the
Word of God through his "3-points" sermons. These points seem
to be a trademark of his preaching style. He constantly encourages regular
attendance of Bible Study, Sunday School, etc, so that his members will
be prepared and able to stand when Christ returns. Currently, Dr. Thomas
is employed as Senior Chaplain at Trenton Correctional Institution in
